Jose Gonzales Is As Good As Nick Drake

...so far, maybe better. As opposed to the more maudlin exploits extolled by the lovely Mr. Drake, Jose's songs are brighter. Going with that theme, in the venue last night a small fire burned in the corner of the room opposite the stage. I waited outside for an hour before being admitted to his show in Echo Park last night, but it was worth it. I probably won't get the chance to see him in such a small venue ever again. Fans of Cat Power, the N.O.T.O.R.I.O.U.S. W.I.L.L. Palace Oldham, Elliott Smith, and Iron and Wine, take note.

I hope to one day do something as beautiful.
